This position is responsible for all administrative, clerical, and financial functions of the Municipal Court/Police Department.  The position performs works of considerable responsibility, diversity, detail, and confidentiality in the daily operations of the Municipal Court/Police Department.  Work involves a wide variety of clerical functions pertaining to the Records Division of the Municipal Court/Police Department requiring the application of discretion, initiative and independent judgment.  Position is responsible for supporting the actions of planning, scheduling and coordinating all court and police activities and duties.  Position acts as the Administrative Assistant to the Municipal Judge and Chief of Police, and as liaison to the Prosecuting Attorney, other Officials, and the public.


  • US Citizen; Minimum age – 21; Valid Drivers License
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as a police clerk and/or municipal court clerk
  • Knowledge in Payroll, Accounts Payable and other financial responsibilities.
  • Strong Computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Police/Court related software and financial software.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure, stressful situations, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with other employees and to deal with public relations problems courteously and tactfully.
  • Ability to make minor decisions in accordance with laws and regulations and to apply these to work problems.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to complete correspondence and department reports with neatness and accuracy.
  • Ability to work directly with other Department divisions, people of various levels both within and outside the organization, and employees in an effective, efficient and quality manner.
  • Considerable ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
  • Support the Clerk/Treasurer’s office when staff is absent and/or in need of additional assistance.
