Municipal Court
If you have received a citation from a Village of Wrightstown police officer and would like information on what your options are, click here, or contact us by phone or email (see contact information below)
Our municipal court represents the judicial branch of government in the Village of Wrightstown (see WI State Statute Chapt. 755). Municipal courts are an independent branch of government and not a department or agency of the municipal government (legislative branch) or the municipal police department (executive branch).
The Court belongs to you, the people
In addition to ruling on municipal violations, the municipal court is designed to create a forum for its citizens to resolve disputes. We are here to serve the citizens of Wrightstown with the upmost respect and aim to provide an efficient, effective and productive service.
We hope this website will assist you with any question you may have about your municipal court, its functions, and the various municipal court procedures.
Purpose Of Our Court
The municipal court is a community based alternative to the criminal justice system that has exclusive jurisdiction over all alleged violations of village ordinances such as traffic offenses (including a first offense for drunk/drugged driving), zoning violations and certain noncriminal violations that parallel the Criminal Code, (such as retail theft or disorderly conduct) whether committed by adults or juveniles, under which the penalty is a forfeiture.
